1. Official Plan Review; Status Update and Background
Report, motion
The Township of Machar has initiated a work program to review and update its Official Plan. Draft Official Plan Review and Update Background Report was presented. An Official Plan is a general land use guide, which is intended to provide Council with the basis for making decisions on applications for development, changes in land use and community improvements. The Official Plan also sets out the Township’s long-term vision for growth and development. On this basis, Official Plans are expected to provide the foundation for managing change over a 20 year period. The primary intent of the Background Report is to establish the context for land use planning that needs to be considered as part of the Official Plan Review process. Current Provincial Land Use Planning policies will have an impact on the Township. There are a number of policy matters that require discussion. Public Workshops #1; Shoreline Issues and #2; Rural, Resource Issues and Settlement Areas have been completed. A Steering Committee has been appointed and a meeting will be scheduled in January to allow for Committee discussion and input on the issues.
